So, even though i love that my 302 in my truck has given good service, im tired of it...its getting aggravating, with all the EFI BS...
SO...im thinking about doing a motor swap with a 351W...
I believe the 351 came out of a 77 thunderbird, but ill double check later...dad wouldnt be too happy if i called him at 4 in the morning asking a "truck" question... right now the motor is sitting in my '72 F100, which is a project thats going NOWHERE...I have nowhere near enough money to fix that truck the way i want to, so its just sitting there, rusting away
any suggestions... on how hard it will be swap
any tranny changes?
and uh, since im a no-job, College student who uses scholarships to pay for school...how much mpg we talkin
Ill post a video for you guys later so you can see part of the reason why im thinking about swapping motors...oh the joys of a Cammed motor....or one that just sounds like it is...grrr
Bolts right in. Make sure you use a 28 oz imbalance flywheel or flexplate with the 351 as your 302 is most likely 50 oz (I believe '82 is when they switched from 28 to 50 on 302). Also note exhaust will be slightly different due to the taller deck height of the 351. Your 302 headers or manifolods will work though. Other than that it will be a direct swap.
