F150 Alarm Malfunction
I have a 2001 F150 XLT which has a random alarm problem when using the remote to open the doors. Sometimes when I push the unlock buttom on the remote the alarm sounds and will not go off even if I push the lock button repeatedly. I just have to wait until the alarm finishes. Is it the remote? Is it the alarm? Is there a way to fix this problem myself without taking it to the dealer? Please help.

If you press lock once, the doors lock.
If you press unlock once, the driver side door unlocks.
If you press unlock twice, all doors unlock.
If you press alarm, urm... you annoy your neighbors.
I'm more of a data telecommunications kind of guy, so the rest of this may make little sense to anyone else but me. I'm not entirely sure that it makes sense to me. You may have to end up touching base with the dealer.
The key fobs are synchronized with the ignition electronics. If you have two of these fobs/keys you can resync. I have the manual if that is where we need to take this discussion. It sounds like the key fob is sending the wrong signal and triggers the alarm. This is not the expected behavior.
Is this behavior repeatable? Do you have two sets of keys/fobs? Has this always occurred or is it a recent change?

Yes, I know how the key fobs are supposed to work. The alarm is going off at random intervals when I press the unlock button for the driver side and open the door. This started about 6 weeks ago. I do have 2 key fobs, if you have the truck's manual to reset the 2 key fobs, I would appreciate you posting the information.
Someone else suggested it might be in the steering column on another thread. So I am putting the steering wheel in the full down position when parking to see if this helps the tab within the steering column. In this same thread someone had the same problem and put WD40 on the door latch where the alarm sensor is? Do you or anyone know where the door alarm sensor is located?
Thanks to everyone for their help.

Once you get the instructions, just remember BEFORE you try to program/reset the FOB (reason I'm bringing this up, my Honda's manual did not mention this) is you need to pull the battery out of the FOB for a bit, then reinsert and start as if iif was a new FOB...word to the wise, just do one at a time, incase the procedure doesn't take.
