Vintage Television
I have a Panasonic CT-216A that does not power up and alot of the repair shops here do not service a set built in 1976 and am currently looking for a floor model 1950's television.
My question(s) are what is a good place I can send the Panasonic to for servicing without paying my left arm and besides Ebay,Where can I find a good older model set?
Thanks.

I saw this guy on the local PBS channel. He refurbishes TVs up to the late 50s. You might try his site and send him an e-mail. www.ricksantiqueradios.com

I'm sufficiently 'vintage' to have watched television on those 50's and 60's sets. I also recall the TV repair man lugging a massive trunk into the house every 6 months or so when another vacuum tube blew. The resolution was lousy and most sets sold then were BW models. They were analog only and as of recent there is no more analog broadcast signal.
That said, there is some charm in grainy, poor reception. We used a cast off 60's BW set until the mid 70's. When replaced with a Sony Triniton, I was shocked to see shadows on the Star Trek sets and to 'see' large rocks and such on foreign planets were nothing more than blanket covered forms.
