If I ever run a doubler I'd do this

NorthWest FabWorks - Products - Black Box Gear Box

Not too much more once you buy the adapter ,$700, then IF you find a 203 $100-300. Its better and less of a hassle

With a 2.72:1 it's about equal to a lowmax 205 with 203 doubler.

But is it really $6 or $700 better? The opportunity cost of $1600 is hard to deal with. I could 4 link my truck for that. I built my girl friends truck on 40's for $850.

For me... I already have a 203 just layin' around. I also found a guy selling that adapter for $450 and that includes the new shaft. A 203/205 doubler will be plenty low, for my truck, because I already have the 6.72s. Plus, I can see myself eventually going to 46's at some point.

I see that thing being more useful for something like a Jeep that didn't come with a 205 and has limited space.

Not arguing its usefulness, just saying it wouldn't be my choice for my truck.

I also made the mistake of thinking they make a lowmax for Ford 205's. My bro's shop is on a calling list for the 9th prototype they make. Apparently, theyre having oiling issues.

Rear steer would be pretty sweet especially with tires the size you run it'll get you more places than a lower gear would in my mind.
My truck is not built to be the Best 4x4 ever but it's a truck I can drive on the street, cruise to the beaches and lakes but can also handle pretty much anything I can throw at it offroad with next to zero breakage. I've pretty much limited everything I can do to my truck now with every upgrade I can possibly do. My last thing is to swap out my front leafs to 16 or 18" coilovers to give me some better stability and flex. Other than that I want to start enjoying driving the thing with no more major projects like my last one having it off the road for close to a year!
This next years gonna be a good one. Finally I'll be posting up some good wheeling pics and vids again with my iPhone 4, just not till when I get back from Thailand for a month early Feb. Can't wait to flog on the old girl again

Ya, you've got 'er built to the hills. Time to show everyone what she can do! We've had my buds down in my garage for a good while now finishing the front 4 link. Weather's been aweful. Hit it hard today and got it drivable...

1987 F150, efi 302, T18, NP208, 4-linked D44 with drive flanges 4.10 front with 6" lift Deaver coils, 4-linked D60 FF welded 4.10 rear with 2wd jeep Cherokee coils. I gave him the axles out of my '79 250. Tires are 46x16.1 ags on 16x16 re-drilled tractor rims. Pictures, then video to follow. Its obviously not done yet.

We built our own links with Johnny Joints and leaf spring bushings.

Rear almost complete the night before the Durhamtown Plantation trip

At DP

Front clearance test

Then we bet a case on follow the leader. There was no winner.

Noice! Flexy Flexy..

I just wanna go wheeling again!! Last time I went it was in the snow with a somewhat stock jeep and yota and I got to winch everyone up everything they couldn't make up while I blasted up everything..lol that rear 10,000 warn came in handy that day. Can't wait to test the new setup though with wireless remotes and new winch bumpers not to mention fresh 428 cj with 770 Holley TA carb, 5:13's, and a offroad style ladder bar on a swing shackle.
Still gotta break er in first. I also swapped the entire body too (mint 79/zero rust)with all new interior with 2005 grey vinyl Yukon seats with center console and cup holders. It's pretty plush and pimp inside so I also went with moulded grey carpet even though I'm gonna thrash it. Lol
On the cab I welded new galvanized steel floors and cab corners I custom built with 3/16 plate cuz the stock ones and china replacements you know crush offroad with a body lift. I really took the time in ALL the details this time around.
