I had to share this.. Yesterday I took the boys for a bike ride to the ice cream store, we got our ice cream and sat out front to eat it. I had Dylan, Christian and Jonathon with me. While out there another woman showed up with her two boys, 3 and 2, and maybe her mother. While we were sitting there, a guy shows up with a 05 250 6.0 CC,LB, 4x4. When he pulls up, he is sounding like a 7.3.
When he walks up, I ask, "hey, you have some work done to here? Shes a little loud for a 6.0" like all of us, you can see the chest puff out a little, and he goes into his limited knowledge of what he had done to his truck. I'll quote " Yeah, I have some turbo work done, and head bolts, and a tuner,a scrt, or sut" I asked, SCT? He says" yeah, I think that it, then he tells me who did all of the work for him..
Well, the boys and I are wrapping up the ice cream, and he walks out, nods his head, gets in the truck, and just leaves one hell of a smoke show at the ice cream store..
I just shook my head, because although he did it, I felt responsible for causing such a incident.
Well as I am sure you all must know, the people that were gathered around in front of the store were making all sorts of less then understanding comments for his display, I remained quiet, knowing that I had something to do with this young mans misjudgement in timing..
Well, it's almost all done, and the smoke was clearing, and people were becoming less vocal of their displeasure, when Christian spoke up and said " daddy, he can make smoke just like you can with your truck".. Now, I dont know for sure, but I did make eye contact with at least one lady as my eyes went to the ground, but I think everyone there was now staring at me as I got the boys on their bike and we road off, as fast as I could get 2 6year olds to go..
Great story Pat. Sounds like that guy handed over some money to someone to make his truck go fast. I see this all the time here, guys have no clue what the speed shop put in their truck. Anyway, the things the kids will say.
You are right! Sometimes trying to be cool is drawing unwanted attention.
That's too funny about your son's comment though. I don't know how many times I've been in that position one way or another.
I have had a bunch of people comment on my truck and ask me who did all the work on it. They are shocked when I say "uh I did." It's a much better feeling when it's something you've done yourself.
Funny story Pat. Too bad you did not think to say something like "Yes son but we never do that around other people". Not saying I would have thought that at the time either. I would have done the exact same thing you did. LOL
Good thread Pat, I agree. Sometimes it hard to hold back, but your story helps.
Yeah, I wonder if he even realized what he did..

The guy he sent his money to though is well known around hee for tricking trucks, so at least he has good taste. I thing John31 had refered me to him when my tranny went.

I agree, it is a blast to be able to do what I have done, understand how it has helped, and be able to explain it. To bad all I can do is recycle it from what I have heard here
