Limp mode??

Heres the question how do i know when my truck is in limp mode? what are the symptoms??

The scoop i had arp studs done about a year ago as well as egr delete kit from liborator with egr valve still in place plugged in with sct xcal2 eric inovv.tuned. when i got the truck back from shop after all was put on my truck only saw 15-22psi of boost with cel througing 2 codes both egr related. bought the xcal 2 and the 2 codes cleared and bypassed through the tunes. truck still only saw about 22 psi max boost with agg. street tune. NOTE: boost in this tune very slow to spool up and tons i mean tons of black smoke when punched from a dead stop. So i bought a bd Boost builder and now my dashawk gauge jumps from 5 psi to 17psi goes to 29psi. it doesnt gradually go up lik56789 10... ect. has anyone else seen this/experiance this problem with the same things done on a 07. also my original ? how do i know if it is in limp mode.

why is your egr valve still in?????? When i did the delete kit i took mine out and put the block off plate over the hole. Get rid of that thing..it's only causing you problems!! it's limping your biscut!

mine didnt come with a block off plate b/c i tink i bought a earlier version and they didnt offer/come with one. also if i do block it off and unplug the egr the CEL will come on. Ran a little test just now took off the bd boost builder and in street economy tune my truck boosts to 22psi and goes back down to 18. in stock mode with bdbooster unplugged goes to 18 and creaps to 20 but no more than that. is this a symptom of limp mode??

I could be wrong but i'd maybe ask innovative if they recommend running a boost builder with their tunes? It may not be very safe for you to be stacking? Just a caution....

maxium you are right. the CEL only comes on when i dissconnect the egr valve. when i plug it back in its fine. IE. i am curently in stock mode with the egr valve plugged in and no CEL. i am running a couple tests i just put my truck into stock mode with the bd boost builder/fooler plugged in and boost goes to 24 and comes back down. gonna leave it in this mode for a highway run when i get a chance and see what happens. when im done with this test im gonna put innovative agg. street tune with bd boost builder and without boost builder and see what i get for boost #'s will keep you all updated but in the meantime any input?

my truck did the same thing after my delete. boost to 22 max. even with the extreme tunes i still only see 22 to 24 with WOT. now, the other day on the interstate i seen 30 for the first time, however that was with converter locked up.

no i didn't have a tuner b4 the delete. the reason for me buying one was i figured my truck went to the so called limp mode due to insufficient flow from the EGR valve. i had EGR codes P0404 & P0405. so i picked up a new X3 from innovative to pull the EGR out of the computer. i don't have the codes anymore, however i still only boost 22 or so max.

Do you think this is normal? 22psi boost?? Does your truck take a lot of time to build up to 22psi meaning smashing the trottle does it take time to go?

spool is a little faster then it was stock and before the delete. if i roll on the throttle (which is the best way with these trucks) it spools great and sends the truck sideways . i am runnin on stock head bolts so the lower boost doesn't bother me so much. i am thinking i have a leak somewhere. my IC boots on the hot side are not in the best shape. so, i plan to replace them and a few other items.

I would say u have a leak or maybe the vanes in the turbo... if you haven't already checked the turbo. I was running probably 25 lbs of boost before i did the egr delete then it went up to 28 and wouldn't pass that which is what i was happy with seeing as i don't have studs either. Now i've got an x3 from innovative and i can see over 32 lbs in no time. I like it and i hate it... there's barely any lag but not having studs worries me. I don't know but leaks and vanes are something to check on.

my turbo is cleaned. did it during the delete. one reason i feel i have a leak is on my aftermarket boost gauge it will bouce up and down between 23-20 at WOT. my boots are cracked. i cleaned them real well about 5,000 miles ago. looked at them the other day and the upper is coated in oil on the outside. so to me, the boost is pushing oil from the CCV through the boot cracks. now, when i did my delete i didn't replace the intake gaskets. yeah, stupid of me but i couldn't wait another week. so, i am going to redo, so to say, everything.
