More Problems . . .
I may take it into a AAA Diagnostic Center to have it completely checked out. Should have done that before I bought it, but like most things you don't think about it until something bad happens.
I was just ranting about the problems with my "new" truck and I obviously came off too much as a whiner, which I didn't mean to do. As long as the truck starts when it's supposed to and doesn't die on the freeway, I'm fine with whatever maintenance issues come along. It's just annoying to have these kind of problems come along so soon after I bought it.
I don't think the seller (who was a mechanic) was trying to hide anything. He said that he safety and equipment checked the truck and changed all the fluids when preping it for sale. I should have but didn't verify this, except to pull the dipsticks out of the engine and tranny (both of which looked clean). The truck was running fine until a week or so ago, when it first died on the freeway because of the loose DP Tuner switch and then this week the battery/alternator died too.
Hopefully, that'll be the end of the problems for awhile and I can just go back to using the truck for the purposes for which I bought it and stop whining about my problems with it online here.

When it comes to maintenance issues, no one ever gets to choose where they happen. On the freeway, a mile from home, or 2,000 miles from home. They rarely crop up and leave you "stranded" in you driveway.
I'd hate to see how upset you would be if your IDM gave out, or if your UVH came loose and needed the shims to stay tight.

Granted, maintenance issues are things that break that need to be fixed. However, in the approximately 45 years that I have been driving in the approximately 60 cars, trucks and motorcycles -- both old and new, and some were real clunkers -- that I've driven locally, nationally and internationally, including tours of over 3000 miles one way and over 6000 miles round trip by car and motorcycle in the US, Canada, Europe and Mexico, I have only had one other vehicle -- other than the F250 -- actually DIE unexpectedly on me on the freeway. That was a used 1960 something Pontiac Tempest station wagon that bit the dust permanently on the San Mateo Bridge about 40 years ago.
As for dead batteries, I've had my share but those were entirely expected because it generally happened when I left the vehicle garaged and undriven for an extended period of time. However, I have NEVER ever had a bad alternator kill a battery on me just a couple of months after I bought the vehicle, except for the F250. Obviously, this problem either predated or coincided with the purchase, but, again, I've never had this happen to me so soon after purchasing a vehicle before.
That doesn't make the F250 a BAD truck, nor was it necessarily a BAD purchase. It was just untimely. However, while these occurrences may be an ordinary fact of life to others who drive these trucks, the fact that BOTH of these problems happened to me so soon after purchasing this vehicle makes these events particularly unique to me and if such occurrences are not particularly unique to F250 owners generally, it is just another reason for me to question whether I should continue to own this truck, if I continue to experience problems with it.
BTW, since I have no clue what an IDM or UVH are, I have no idea how I'd react but, if their failure resulted in the unexpected inability of the truck to start or to die on the freeway, I probably would be just as upset, as I was with the loose DP Tuner switch and dead battery/bad alternator, which were the source of those problems for me.
In any event, I think that we've beat this dead horse enough. So, I'm done. Thanks for those to lent a sympathetic ear. I see no point in responding further, but knock yourself out if you feel compelled to do so.

IMO there is nothing more frustrating than buying a new to you vechicle and having it take a dump on you. If you have questions please feel free to ask, one of us here will have the answers. If there is a member nearby you they will be more than willing to help you out if needed.
Welcome to FTE.
Prices here seem high to me.
(but evidently they're selling them)
