I'm interested in getting a leveling kit for my 96 f-150 with coil springs in the front. I'd like to get a good kit and was wondering if anyone had some good advice as in what exactly to get. It is 4 wheel by the way. Also is this a difficult job? thanks alot
Mike
it's not hard at all i just used spacers and i take my truck off jumps time to time hardest part is getting shocks if you have a quad shock front end as long as the spacers are polyurathane and they have the stud extentions your good
or you could get an expensive one from bds and have the same results
I used Superlift 2" leveling coils. They're only $135 for a pair. They came with camber adjustment bushings. The bushings are "adjustable"; they can correct different amounts of camber, but they'll affect caster at the same time. I'd let the alignment shop buy the bushings after they check it to see exactly what correction needs to be made. The coils were extremely simple to put in.
yeah that makes sense thanks for the feedback. I'm hearing putting springs in is an easy job. I've never worked with coil springs before. Is there any special tools or methods i should know about?
I got mine at Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, but I haven't compared prices lately. You will need an alignment after the lift. It's definitely drivable, but you'll wear the outsides of your tires pretty badly. If you go with the springs you don't need any spacers. No special tools are needed. You don't have to compress these springs to get them out; just jack the truck up by the frame (not the axle) & they'll unload, then remove a couple of retainers & the come right out.
so i know i said i was getting springs but a buddy of mine talked me into the spacer. I ordered the daystar 2 inch polyurethane spacers. Anyone have these or have anything good to say. If Anyone has something bad to say i'd like to hear as well. Thanks
Post some pictures when you are done with it--I am considering doing this to my '88 F150 4x4 short bed and am curious how it will look when it is done.
