Engine idle shut down
This is an option on a 2009 6.4 diesel I am looking at buying, I can not find any info on it, does it keep running the engine until the turbos cool down ? This truck also has 3:55 limeted slip axle, looking for comments on that as well, The truck is built with options for hauling around a camper HD alternator, camper package, powerscope mirrors , 8' box and that what I have a 9'2", 2400lbs dry weight in box camper, with a small trailer I tow. Will the 3:55 gears work ? 75% of the time my truck is for work hauling tools and materials, dump runs. Thanks for any input Jeremy

That's typically called a turbo timer. I've only seen the option in the aftermarket, many of the high end alarm systems will have it and there are a few stand alone controllers. 3.55 sounds low to me with an overdrive trans. I pluged some numbers in http://www.et-studios.com/motorsports/gears/gears.html here.
It looks like (assuming 3500rpm redline), first will top out around 30mph, second ~43, third ~60 and od ~130mph. with a 77mph 2000rpm. 3.73 will shift down a little, but may work better with weight of the tools and materials.
