Where to install CB radio in 2005???????

I have the 2005 FX4 with the full doghouse (solid from cd player all the way to armrest). Where in the heck can I put my CB without drilling into my roof. I also have a sunroof so that's even out. I thought about cutting out the ash tray but don't want to mess up too much in case of ever re-saleing. Any ideas atall?

What model is this radio... or dimensions?

This should give us a better idea of where to suggest.

There has been a few that have used the compartment tray on the dash and some have made a custom plate to "snap-in" to where the ashtray normally would go w/out severe modification.

alot of guys mount it on the side of the center console. The faceplate is set flush with the top of the console so you can still operate all of your *****...and it doesn't remove much if any of the Passengers leg room.

you do have the Center Console w/ shifter right?

I think those are accurate. Yes I have the center console with shifter. Those are actually the two ideas i was thinking about. The one with the ash tray was my first choice but it looks like I will have to cut the tray out. I may be wrong butit appears to be a solid piece and that brings me back to the resale value if I ever decide to sale it. I just hate to do any mods that can't be switched back if that makes any sense. Thanks for the ideas so far guys.

You won't have to cut the ash tray out, but you might have to trim some of the plastic behind the ash tray. However, you should be able to reassemble it to look like stock if you have to.

Any ideas on how to hold the radio in place? I don't have a 'sleeve' for it. Should I try to find something similar to what a aftermarket cd player has? Like a sleeve? Or does someone make something to do this? You guys are great. Thanks

Try velcro (spelled wrong, im sure) strips. You can get two-sided strips that'll hold the the radio to the strips, then the strips to the center console.

If you can find a radio cage that will fit that might work. If not, i'd try some lumber ties. They are flat metal strips with a bunch of holes. You can bend and shape them easily. Available at any home depot.
