Should I be wandering around in here tonight with my bulletproof armor on?

Evening. Here north of Pittsburgh it couldn't make up it's mind whether it wanted to rain or be clear, so it stormed like mad for about an hour, then cleared up. Weird weather these days.

Jim - I hear that...we just had a storm roll thru here but it was nice for 2/3 of the day. Still a little overcast but what's left of the day's sun is trying to peek back out.

Bodywork's just a riot. I still have to get to a little bit on my Explorer before too long. My problem is - no welder since I have to weld in some sheetmetal.

I think I'd be lost if I didn't have a welding machine. I would like to get one of those nice sheetmetal flange tools, I think they're called, that you can create a lip of sorts so you can put the new metal on, and have it already level with the surface and really minimize plastic use.

I've got to do both doglegs on the rear doors and a tool like that would be super sweet to have...well, along with welding equipment in general... lol

If you've got to do those particular areas, look into shrinkers and stretchers. I know of one combination variant for 90 bucks, however, it's from Harbor Freight - http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=96465 . You can also check out Eastwood, but they'll set ya back much further. I know HF isn't the best stuff in the world, but sometimes, it's good to have them in a pinch.

I have a Harbor Frieght store here in town, I'll have to take a look around next time I'm in there. I need to round up some stuff and get this done before the winter for sure or I'll be missing that plastic fairing at the bottom come spring

I've recently just gotten the urge to make my truck nice like it once was. It's got a patch panel on the drivers side of the bed from a previous owner, and it was never finished. I'm going to leave it there, and hopefully I can get it straight. It's got old bodywork over the passenger side rear wheel well, and it cracked, so I need to get a patch panel for that side. Then of course, I've got a lovely hood dent, sagging bumper on the drivers side, and the drivers door, lower B-pillar and front of the bed took a hit (also before I owned it). I know it's a work truck, but it could be a nice work truck. I really hate bodywork though, although I don't mind painting. I also don't like having to go over someone elses messed up bodywork.
