610 miles and fuel light just came on!! WOW
For the first time I broke the 600 mark. I didn't baby it this last tank, I even went and got a load of fire wood for next winter. The highway scales were closed so I weighted the truck and it weighted 5060kg or 11132lbs. It worked out to 3532 lbs of wood in the back of the truck.
Good thing the scales were closed!
Should I push it and see if I can hit 700 mile???

I only drove for about 45 miles with that load, the rest of the driving was going to work very early in the morning. I usually started the truck and let it warmup idling in drive coasting down the road for the first mile. At 3 am there is no traffic to worry about.
The truck is an auto, and stock 265 tires, also 3.73 rear. This is the best milage I got, I will post my calculated when I fill up.

You have a lot more faith in mechanical gauges and Ford engineers than I do. Plus unless you have in tank mods, you are sucking a lot of air into your injectors. I start looking to fill up at 1/4 tank, anything less and I'm sweating. Running out in one of these ain't so much fun.
Thats pretty damn good!

well im pretty happy with the 2 7.3's that we've got because we are getting 18 burnin around town and 21-22 flying down the highway 80-90. have slowed it down and got 1mpg but it just take too long both trucks are lifted 4in, 4x4, lb one is a cc the other is ex. cab and this hauls a carpet kit full of tools with the shell.
there were a few time my dad was running on fumes out in the country and he put 41 gallons in his truck. i didnt realize that the downspout held that much.
but i agree with zx250 i dont run the tank under 1/8.
and around here its a rarity to hear a 7.3 get less than 15mpg unless it is running poorly

What size tires are you running and what gears in the rear end?

Ive never heard of that good of milage on a lifted 4x4 7.3, Im not saying its not possible just never heard of it before.
Im running 35's with 3.73 and after about 73ish my mileage drops because Im over 2k RPM's, best Ive ever gotten is 18. Now if your doing 80-90 down the road I dont know how your actually getting better mileage over 2000 RPMs then everyone else unless your running some crazy gears in the rear end.

I have never heard of a lifted pickup getting that good especially at 80 or 90, but it may be the larger tires IDK. I know when we had our OBS 7.3s w/ 3.55 rear ends you could cruise at 80-85 and still get decent mileage, but it wasnt in the 20's. More like 18. I am happy with the avg of 15-16 I get as I tow often.
