2004 F150 Crew Cab window regulator defect?!?
I'm taking a survey to see how many people have had to replace their window regulators in their trucks. Please keep it specific to the 2004 F150 SuperCrew model.
I've had the truck for 4 1/2 years (bought new) and have replaced 3 regulators, and the 4th one broke yesterday! I replaced the two on the passenger side in 2008 and now will have replaced the two on the driver side this year. I know there has to be some sort of defect, recall on these things; however, I keep getting told there isn't. It's ridiculous! Thankfully I can replace them myself but the part is $165.
The reason for the survey is to see if my complaint will be heard by Ford, and the more people with the problem, the stronger my case. Please list your manufacture date and how many regulators you've had to replace.
Thanks!!

Ooh Ooh me me! Haha I just bought an 04 supercrew lariat 4 weeks ago and both passenger windows go down, but not back up unless I do it from the driver's door. I dug thru the glove box and found receipts from 3 previous replacements of window parts.... I actually was gonna post the same exact thing when I logged on. Ironic

sorry guys but this design has been around since back in the mid 90s and as a glass man i turn a great profit on these units my experience has shown that the power units are harder on the regulators than the manual design, when i bought my truck back in 10/09 if it had power windows i walked knowing full well the future problems with said units

Same Problem
Oubrad,
I just had another register break this weekend. This has been about the fifth one. I have a open case with Ford to ask for assistance to get it fixed and I'm going to ask for a extended warranty for my windows because I have had one break every year.

I started a huge thread on this site about this and you can also go to http://www.carcomplaints.com/ and fill in all your problems there. I believe if we all complain about this enough Ford might do something. Ford just told me to save my receipts and in the future something may happen. The hot sun hitting the door is a big problem for these type of regulators. They have cheap inexpensive parts that wear out and break from the sun beating on the door all day. This is a huge problem if your driving on an interstate and it's raining or snowing. I carry the tools to do a temporary fix at all times just for this reason.
