Maybe Leonard just saw this topic, and is just trying to help. I, for one, appreciate his sharing the information, as my friend's van is exhibiting those symptoms he described.

thanks Leonard.

Ford torque Converter

I have been told that the Ford Torque Converter is expected to go out each 100,000 miles. I took my 2000 F-150 Lariet in for the 100,000 mile scheduled maintenance which changes the fluid in the transmission. Not eve one week after getting the truck out of the shop the truck jerked and heard a loud bang at a red light, then it started whining as went through it gears from a complete stop. As the whining got louder I ran over to my Ford dealer and put it in the shop not knowing why or what was whining. $3300.00 and a week later A new torque converter and fan had been installed. Hope this helps anyone out there.

You were told wrong. That's not true.

For $3300 you should have had a new transmission and torque converter, not just a torque converter and fan.

Maybe the date was not noticed. Response could very well help others. No need to be unkind.

You're four years late to the party... and a "noob". Did you join the forum just to make those posts?

No problem, Mark Kovalsky. Not a "rebuke" as your snarky response to the helpful poster. So sorry I missed your "party" when it incurred, projectSHO...., but I had no need to search torque converter, until today. BTW, you throw a terrible "party". Missouri? Typical. You should seriouly drive a Dodge.
