exhuast question?

I just put headers, high flow cats, and true duals on my 08 s/c saleen f-150, for the mufflers I used magnaflow. It sounds like crap almost sounds like glass packs, I would like to get it to sound as close to a mustang as possiable. Any suggestions? Oh yea and I am running 10# of boost.

Put Flowmasters on it. Thats why I don't like Magnaflow for mufflers. They sound like a toned down or subtle version of a glasspack.

Flowmaster 50 series. while they are a bit more expensive than all the other flowmasters at bout $215 they for some reason are a bit louder to me than other Flows but still have that same ole flowmaster tone to them.

The 40 series is a 2 chamber and the 50 series is a 3 chamber. The 50 is quieter with less interior noise than the 40.

What 50 series are you talking about, the big block muffler? The regular 50 doesn't cost 200 bucks etiher. Its only about 100 or so.

You guys have the venerable Ford pushrod engines. Flowmasters sound great on those 302/351 engines, but they don't sound the same on the 5.4L modular engines.

Most Gen 2 Lightning guys...heck, most guys period...don't like the sound of the Flows on the 5.4's.

I could be wrong, he might be different than most, or they might sound ok on his truck because it's doesn't have the 2V heads like our Gen 2 L's.

FWIW Texas, I do agree with you about the Magnaflows. I don't like that muffler for any application.

I have a super 50 on my roush f150 and it sounds awesome. Its a 1 in 2 out with 14inch tips. It sounds 10 times better than my 460 with super 40's. I dont know what you guys are talking about it sounding like poop on the mod, i think it sounds great. It has a nice deep rumble and is surprisingly loud on the exterior.

might just be how your truck is tuned and how the pipes are routed. do your pipes come out behind the wheels or are they dumped before the wheels?

It is sounding better, not quite what I want, but better. I put two super 40's and add an H-pipe.

Saleen, I think the sound you're looking for is "straight pipes" from the cats back.

you are not going to get a Mustang sound....the 5.4 has a different tone from the 4.6

I had a 03 GT with the Maggie Magnapacks and that was wicked sounding. My 06 Roush'd F-150 with 5.4 had a similar setup, and it sounded completely different. There is just so much more pipe involved IMO

I think 6CylBill is right. You are most likely wanting a Straight Pipe sound.

Flowmasters don't flow that well....

Saleen08: What kind of "true duals" are you running? Depending on the set up, that might be the source of the the rough glasspack sound, unless you are using Magnpack, which are basically glasspacks.
