03 f350 4th trans is f550
i have a work truck that has had its 4th transmission put in. i just stated up working with these guys took a year break and come bak to this. the thing is its got the lame over drive instead of the tow haul the last 3were the f350 trans and now has a f550, which im sure its supposed to be running tow haul not over drive. so the thing is i was told recently that its better to tow in this situation with over drive on ? can this be reprogramed from over drive to towhaul with a chip or somthing? i have a edge attitude chip that i traded from my bro to trade for one for my truck and they might still have it. the thing is its guttless and tends to heat up. i plan on replacing the stock muffler, any thoughts

The 4R100 had overdrive cancel, the TorqShift has tow/haul. The difference is in the software, not the transmission. You might be able to get a custom chip maker to make a chip that turns overdrive off into tow/haul.
The trans won't know the difference. Also, there are exactly zero differences between an F350 trans and an F550 trans.

Are they just slapping a new tranny in there and not replacing the ATF cooler?
Is the bypass valve functioning properly?
Are they throwing used trannies in the truck in an attempt to save some money?
Towing 20,000lb with 3.73 gears?

all new trannys the second new one was free not sure on others.it has the biggest tranny coolers out there. i have an edge attitude for 7.3 that i was going to trade for my f150 but trying to sell it to my work. i thought about the bypass valve thingy on the tranny lines off the trans but im not sure if they replaced it yet. trying to get list of things done. i do notice a shimmying when taking off sometimes so its slipping n makeing too much heat, so my thoughts are sticking with the whole towhaul thing
