Just bought this 2004 F250 with 5.4 L engine. Why does Ford restrict the pipes on the y-pipe? This seems like a lot of horsepower loss. I assume ford has the only y pipes available for a 2004 also. If anyone knows an aftermarket y pipe that does not have the restrictions, please let me know. I see an adaptor on ebay; but would rather have complete pipe. Anyone have custom pipes made to go to cat?

 

If you find a complete bolt on y-pipe for the 2v 5.4, I'd love to find out about it.

 

x2 on that! I would be VERY interested in a bolt on version of the y pipe, for a 2V 5.4L.

 

got a muffler shop to cut out the restricters and weld in new pipe for 70$$ a year ago and yes it makes a diff

 

I just ordered the SPD y pipe , I would rather have a one piece bolt on too, but this will be much better than whats on there, Craig.

 

I bought this exact piece from on ebay about 6 months ago. Since I don't weld, I had my local muffler shop install this goody in about 20 minutes for forty bucks.
It was a mod I did 5 years after I bought the truck new...I wish I would have done the mod the day I took delivery of the truck.
