Wheel Sizes and Tires

Hi,

I have 15" AR 5 slot mags t hat are about 8" wide. What is the widest and narrowest tires I could safely place on such a rim?

Also, does anyone have any experience with the largest size tire one can safely use with a 15" rim on a '53 F100 with stock suspension? I am trying to fill the wheel wells.

Thanks in advance,
BDL

You'll have to dig a little on the web at the tire manufacturers websites. Here's one for Falkan tires....click on the box that says sizes and specs & they'll tell you what the range of rim sizes is for each tire size. The chart in this link is only for one of their tire models, so you'll have dig around on the website for your favorite brand.

Frankly I could have used a few classes in high school on how to calculate tire sizes instead of dissecting a bunch of frogs. I haven't had to cut up any frogs since then but seems I'm am frequently faced with a question about wheels and tire possibilities. Had to deal with this yesterday on my 67 Galaxie with 15x7 Cragar's versus the stock 15x5's. At least the Firestone tech could run the math unlike many at the discount tire outlets who have to rely on the computer to tell them.
