Lightbulb Bg service 6.0l egr and air induction cleaning?

I was on a website and this popped up on a webpage

Media.JRThompson.com | WYNN?S LAUNCHES THREE-PART FORD DIESEL EGR SYSTEM CLEANING SERVICE

it details a cleaning system that cleans the entire egr and intake manfold system of all the built up soot and carbon from ccv and egr gas build up. is it possible to get this done at a local dealership? bg inc also sells this type of service kit for the 6.0 does anyone know hom much this service costs and is it a good investment every 15-30k miiles.?

It is not a Ford related service. Whether or not a specific dealership will have it depends on the choice of the folks who run the dealership. I believe the website for the service has a feature where you can track down businesses in your area that have purchased and trained on the equipment.

My local dealer has the BG service. After reading about it on another site I inquired about it. I believe it was in the $500+ range and the service manager said every 60,000 or so was good. The guys on the other site that have had it done swear by it.

From a Ford diesel techs perspective, we have the BG egr service kit(it is very similar to wynns) at my dealership and after using it a few times I can tell you that you would get better results removing the intake and steam cleaning it rather than paying $500 plus for this service. If the job is done well, it take another 40,000 miles at least before it carbons up again.

Yes for someone that has done alot of them but for the average person, probably not the best idea to make it your first truck repair. I was just suggesting that for the price of an egr cleaning service, you could basically pay to have your intake removed and steam cleaned, then its practically new and much cleaner than any wynns or bgs could ever get.

I had this done on my 6.0, as part of an R&D for the dealer, Ford, and Wynns (the company that made the cleaner). My 6.0 had about 33,000 on it at the time. Even though I use and additive, I was amazed at the amount of soot in the intake. After the service, the intake was perfectly clean. This is supposed to clean the egr cooler also, a problem area for the 6.0. I'm thinking at 60,000, it would be worth the money to prevent soot/carbon related problems. Just the price we pay for having these trucks.

My dealership wants $ 1171.00 to remove the intake, steam clean it, and install it with new gaskets. I know from pulling the EGR valve that the intake is full of soot etc. I think I'll stick with the toothbrush and skinny hose duct taped to my shop vac. Any more info on the BG or Wynns cleaning system?

BG Ford 6.0 egr service.

It works that simple, I have 8 emergency vehicles that constantly require EGR attention. Running this service fixed issues and has prevented further issues done as scheduled maintenance.

I would not ever sell that to a customer. I find that to be just like the snake oil diesel injector flush BS. There is only one correct way to clean the intake. remove it and set it in a hottank. If you dont have a hottank then subet it to the radiator shop. Also why would pay for a service that is covered under the 5/100 diesel engine. If the intake is coked up bad enugh to warrent a repair then Ford warranty should be taking care of that for excessive coking. Ford wont pay for a bg flush by the way... they pay us to remove and clean the intake as well as attempt to find the root cause for the concern. So when that service is done you should also have a freshly programed pcm, tcm, ficm. an updated drain tube and all your injector should be nomore then +/- 15% and the ect/eot should be varified as well as fan cluth operation and correct turbo functions varified.
So once again why would you pay for covered repairs?

my .02 however ymmv

Your going to have to show some type of issue/problem with the vehicle. They are not going to go through everything for your piece of mind. My .02

thats correct they wont, unless there is an issue that requires the repair. not just a wallet flush. thats all that is. I dont need bg to help me flush your wallet... it cost 3-5k to get your truck back out of the shop and I for one will not add that "stuff" to your bill.

but you can try this line when they try to sell you:
So I need this done to remove the coking from my intake. Isnt there a tsb about excessive coking that my diesel engine warrnanty should cover? O it wont and why is that?

Im not a big "snake oil" fan, and while I have no experience with this perticular service, I have used BG products for years. I use there FULL induction service epquiptment on gas burners and it works wonders, especially on GM EGR systems.

But like said above, only way to get it all out is remove intake. I put mine in the CUDA and let it cook for an entire day when I had it off for EGR delete. Inside was as clean as a brand new intake.
