I used the hard wired FM transmitter from Ford- called "TripTunes" Part Number: 6R3Z-19A464-AA.
It is listed for the newer trucks but will work on anything (just need to connect power, antenna, and 3.5mm jack).
I used it in my 06 F150 lease (stock radio), my '02 PSD (on stock radio before my Pioneer unit) and it is currently in my '79 F250 (hooked to a Pioneer deck)
This option is still on FM frequencies though so you can get interference but not nearly what you get with the over the air transmitters.
Can also try Google search for "Ford Auxillary Input" for other options.
I believe PIE makes an adapter that uses the AUX button if your radio has one - Part Number: FRDN-AUX
This option would be a direct feed into the radio rather than FM
I believe both options would cost about the same
Hope that helps

Mine has a tape deck, so I just use one of those cassette tape adapter things. Here is the exact one I use:
Of course, if you don't have the deck with both CD *and* cassette tape player, you need the FM modulator or that other trick. I heard about it, but never bothered since I the tape adapter works perfect for me.

I liked the FM transmitter but there was too many stations in the Denver area and had bleed over all the time. Ended up getting a nice Sony head unit with IPOD controls from Crutchfield.com for $129.00 that included everything - harness adapter, install kit, Ford DIN removal tools.

My advice is ditch the factory radio and get a good aftermarket deck with an AUX jack. That's what I did and my stereo sounds sonic.
