GM in Bankruptcy

Everytime I go to local welding supply store I get a reminder of what cars the 70s had to offer. Sitting next to the lot is a baby blue 1977 mustang, in good shape too. What a turd, has to be one the low points in Ford's history. Of course at that time other manufacturer's cars were not too hot either.

I guess its a matter of personal preference, most of all the miles I've ever driven was with a reliable drivetrain like my 78 Mercury Marquis 460, c6 auto 9" rear so I stay with what Im familar with. My car has 4 wheel disk brakes with hydroboost, incredible stopping power along with sway bars front and rear so for a 4,700 pound car it handles curves really well. Even though the engines were choked down during the mid to late 70's my car came with a 460, an engine most have to swap in for it's power potential, I may stroke mine so I can have one of the biggest engines available, bigger than the great 472/500 Cadillac engines.

I give up, you guys are so blind and unable to look past your nose! I could write a book here about how the foreign companies have fooled you fools into thinking the stimulus and jobs they create outweigh the sales, profits, and jobs LOST by American companies. Your right, everybody buy JAP STUFF ONLY (except the marginal f150) that will be great for the economy!

Back on topic, GM just exited bankruptcy. WE (us taxpayers) and the UAW now own it! At least with Chrysler it was sold, how a bankruptcy is supposed to work. This is nuts! Ford is now competing with the government, who writes the regulations for carmakers. What a conflict of interest. Now, if you buy a Ford, you are taking money away from yourself.

I saw on one of the news channels that GM is trying to strike a deal with Ebay to sell NEW GM cars on Ebay motors.
Even though I as a taxpayer now have somewhat of a financial interest in GM that still doesn't mean I'd even consider buying a GM vehicle. I've actually read/heard many people say they are done with GM because of this whole bailout deal. Our current administration seems to favor doing such deals though.

You are clueless. If Ford, GM and Chrysler didn't make crap except for the F-series (that's being generous) from around 79-mid 2000s, they would be doing much better. For example, Chrysler had to be bailed out in 79 before Toyota was a major player. So they were incompetent and are incompetent now.
