depends how you will drive it. I have a 72f250 mildly modded 390. I get 6 miles when I floor it and 14 if I drive it like an old lady barely taping the gas pedal and letting off way before I get to a stop light on red
A "real" 427? Built to OEM or slightly better specs, you can expect 1 to 5 mpg. I knew a fellow years ago with a Ranchero, 427 and C6. He got 1 mpg in lead-footed street raci..er, driving.
It's a different animal though close enough: I remember like yesterday the Car and Driver test of a Yenko 427 Camaro. 7 mpg. I remember it because my old man looked at it and commented about what a shame it was that you couldn't take much of a trip despite the "big engine like that...". The same guy who did 2nd gear starts in a Hi-Po Mustang we drove, so he wasn't really in tune with the (1/4 mile) times.....
If you are concerned about fuel mileage, you are in the wrong catagory of vehicle and engine, and in another universe of engine/vehicle combinations.
