torque specs for rear end cover

torque specs for rear end cover

hi i just took the rear end cover off my 76 station wagon and welded the gears together to make it posi cuz i have co-op biast tires on it and enjoy going mudding with it and my friends and need to how tight to torque down the rear end cover it is a cover on the back of the axle if that makes a diff. its not the third member, it is a cover thanks for all the help kevin......

torque specs for rear end cover

I can't be certain about your particular year, but the rear end cover on my 1994 8.8 is 35 to 40lbs/ft. I thought it seemed a bit much, but a couple of other folks here verified through their books also. Hope this helps some.
