diffs
hey just wondering what diffs i should look for i have a 89 full size bronco and a 90 f150 4x4 i want to upgrade one of them to solid axle what front and rear diffs should i look for ?
i did a search but couldnt find anything

I would go with a Dana 60 solid front axle from an F350 of about the same year and a Sterling 10.25" full floater out of a F250 or F350 of the a similar year in the rear. This is a big upgrade and unless you plan on running some real big tires and using this thing hard, it would not be neccessary (except for the cool factor), you would also have to swap to some 16" or larger 8 lug wheels.

The D60 swap would be very cool but it requires allot of metal fabrication to get it on the F150 or the bronco... the D60 is a leaf spring axle and the bronco's and F150's are coil spring. I think there is a write up here at FTE... I would search F150 sas... or bronco sas. As I understand it it's much easier to put a D44 under those trucks... one from a early bronco I think.

The bronco graveyard has a kit for the SAS using a 78 to 79 solid D44 from the f150/bronco to the 80 to 96 fullsize bronco and F150. I think the early bronco solid 44 width is a better match to the ranger/bronco II/explorer. The 9 in ford is a direct swap into the bronco and F150 except for the missing ABS sensor your 89/90 would have in the rear 8.8. The D60 front end and either a 10.25 or D60 rear end have been further upgrades for a heavy duty set up, i.e. 35"+ tires, trail, etc.
