I've been using this stuff and can't really complain except for the fact that it smells AWFUL. You get the tiniest drop on your hands and you just about can't stand to even be around yourself! I'm just wondering if some of the other additives out there are the same way or not.

Yeah, it has a potent smell to it. I keep a bottle of hand sanitizer in my door pocket so that when I'm done getting fuel, I can use that to clean *most* of the smell away. Works pretty well.

I use Howes and it has that same "additive" smell to it also.

I know the Opti-Lube XPD additive has the same pungency as well.

What exactly does DK do. I've never used it in my truck, but I mix it and a little engine oil in my tractors to keep the injector pump lubed.

Improved fuel lubricity for better internal injector lubrication (read as "longer injector life"). It also gives, for me at least, a slight mileage improvement.

And a nice, eye watering aroma inside the cab after a fill-up

Yea, I hated using that stuff back in the day. Now I just add a little biodiesel and dont have to track the additives down.

tell me about it. i had a bottle of someother brand in the back seat of my truck like the freakin first week i got it, i had just taken my carpet out and powerwashed it and the son of a biscuit fell over and leaked all over my floor. i was soooo mad by the way i took the carpet out cleaned at and i can still smell it
so i thought of a good idea.. yal know those little 8 oz water bottles? well i saved a few up and filled about 10 of them up with the correct amount of additive one day at home so when i go to fill up i just pop one open and just dump it in there.

The newer bottles seem to have a better cap on them, from what I can tell anyway. I also shoot a little diesel in my measuring cup and dump it in the tank after measuring out the DK. Then I wipe out the cup with paper towels before I put it back in the truck. I keep mine in the tool tray behind the back seat and never had a problem with it falling over.

Try the hand sanitizer trick -- it takes most of that smell off your hands.

I love the smell of it! Being a Bulk Fuel Specialist, all fuel smells like cologne to me...except mogas (regular gasoline)...that stuff gives me a headache and a half...

I carry an old Pepsi bottle that I marked out with various measurements (4 oz, 8 oz, 12 oz etc). and use that to dump into the tank... no worries about odors there unless I spill. I'll have to try the hand sanitizer- good tip Joe. BTW- baby wipes work good too

Howe's is the only additive I've tried where the lid actually functions as a lid, keeping the contents inside. Not sure why this concept is so difficult for some of the others to understand.

As for smell, the best smelling lubricity additive I've found has been Biodiesel. Smells no worse than the fuel you're pumping in the tank
