3.03 3-Speed Transmission Question
I just rebuilt the little 3.03 3-speed toploader transmission on my '67 Econoline Pickup.
Haven't installed it yet but it seems to be fine.
My question is that I was not able to find the indexing mark on the 2-3 Synchronizer hub. I saw no difference in any of the splines, and put it together. Seems fine. The Ford manual tells you to line up the "alignment marks" on the Synchronizer Hub and Synchronizer Sleeve.
Does anyone know if I'll have a problem and exactly why those things are supposed to have alignment marks?
Thanks for the help!

Maybe there ain't none
I spoke with Mark at Toploader Heaven (Toploaderheaven.com) who is no doubt quite an authority on the 4 speed boxes. He's also quite a generous and nice guy.
He said that while the Ford materials mention the alignment marks, he never saw a 4-speed with them. He has no experience with the 3 speed trannys, but the synchros appear to be quite identical.
Maybe there simply are no marks on any of these things.
And thanks for the suggestion Briank, I posted the question there and will pass along the reply...
