I couldn't find any thread containing info about the www.dieselsite.com 's external transmission filter setup. I am gonna order the coolant filter setup for my 03 f350 6.0l, but I wondered if anyone had any experience with their transmission filter? Sound like a good idea, but isn't there already an internal xnny filter?
Sorry I can't check it out right now, since I am still on vacation in Kauai, HA. So your saying there is an OEM tranny filter, (front bumper/pasgr side). Where do you get the OEM filters and how often are they changed? I'll check it out in 2 days. Thanks.
You can upgrade to the '08 pan and filter. The new filter is a full flow small micron filter instead of just a screen in the pickup. I plan to do this next time I change fluid.
'08 pan/filter from the dealer, or aftermarket? And do the both come together (pan/filter combo) or are they sold separately? and where do you get the replacement tranny filter (passgr side/front bumper one)?
Thanks! I will check it out & ask him (just emailed him). So, are you sure that the 2008 pan & filter work for the 2003 6.0L F350 automatic tranny, without any mods? I'm assuming the pan has a required NEW gasket to purchase, too? I'm not familiar with the new filter location. The standard tranny filter/screen in the pickup is in the pickup tube, but where is the new 2008 full flow filter? Just prying your minds for info, since I am lacking. Thanks again for all the help.
Its a full flow filter that replaces the screen in the pickup. The new pickup is larger with a pleated filter instead of a screen. Yes, the '08 pan fits the '03 TorqShift, so you'll need pan, gasket, and filter for an '08 and you'll be set.
No, when they switched to an internal filter they eliminated the external bypass filter. It won't hurt anything to have both though, I plan to just extend the change interval on the external filter.
