Redundant Hydraulic Clutch Question
Just brought home an '85 F150 XLT Lariat 4.9l 4spd shortbox. It's always been a Carolina truck, so the body is in excellent cond. Mechanically though, it could use a few things. The Hydraulic clutch won't allow me to go from 2nd to 3rd and reverse is always a grinder. Firewall flex doesn't seem to be an issue, but from everything I've read here, I still am confused as to bleeding the system. I'll need some more help with that. Also, the 1bbl carb sucks and I'll be looking at a new manifold and 4bbl.
Anything re bleeding would be appreciated as my wife wants to start driving 'Ol Blue and need to get the shifting smoothed out!
Thanks

It takes an allen wrench to open it. Look on the slave cylinder for the set screw, they all have them.
It took me 3 times over a couple days bleeding mine after replacing it to get all of the air out.

I went and looked up a replacement slave cylinder for your truck and the first one I saw shows a bleeder screw right next to where the hose connects. Funny thing is the other 2 parts it shows dont appear to have bleeder screws. On my slave cylinder, there is an allen screw that I loosen and the fluid bleeds out a hole nearby. Any chance you have an allen screw on your slave?
Oh, and yes, removing the roll pin will allow you to remove the hose. If you remove it, dont lose the o-ring inside.
