Hey guys, does anyone make drop/lowered spindles for the stock straight axle front suspension on the 48-52 ford trucks? i was just wandering if they did I can't find anyone who makes them on the web. I know I could get a lowered stock front axle for like 420 bucks not including shipping but I'm just wandering what I could do to lower the front end of the truck and not brake the bank lol
if you wanna stay cheap, find you a cheap $100 donor vehicle and steal the front IFS off it. theres quite a few you can use, maybe get lucky and find you a older mustang or something. plus if you havnt converted to 12v yet you can rob the wire harness and whatever else you need, motor, tranny, rearend, seats... all kinds of goodies!!1
just please please dont heat up your front axle or anything like that!! i'll drive to Tennessee and wiz on ur shoes lol.
wow i just went back and checked your truck out... and its is very solid, your very lucky to have such a jem. do you need the front nose trim?
Thanks man I appreciate it. I know, I still can't beleive I found one like this. I'm going to go pick it up next weekend and its killin me not already havin it here lol. And to beat it all its honestly 8 minutes away from where I live! About the trim though, I have the trim from the parts truck I had for years and it had the three bar setup on each side. they are still in really good condition, the only thing that I am missing is one of the arrow shaped peices that the three bars all go into towards the front of the hood that somehow got lost in move about 4 months ago. I just checked and I found some new peices I would have to order a set and they were $125! needless to say im going to be looking some more for that missing arrow peice....but im scared it was thrown away or something during the move...
you should keep checkin ebay every single day, you never know what will pop up(prob expensive tho). i dont have any side trim, but i do have the nose piece for a 51 and 52. oddly enuf i'm running a 50 hood on my truck, A fellow FTE member hooked me up with the 50 nose pieces for a real good price(needhelp49, thanks again)
i still dont know which hood side pieces i want to use, 52 or 50. i dont have either yet...
when you get to that point you can always start a thread askin if anyone has em, thats what i did.
you should buy a tint and go camp out where your truck is lol.... thats what i'd do
If you look at the stock spindle, there's not much way to move the stub up or down on it, maybe an inch? It would have to be a forging ($$$), and for this small a market for that little drop, I can't believe they were ever available.
I beleive you guys are right. I wasn't sure they made the dropped spindles for the stock suspension but my dad tols me he thought he had seen them before but I beleive he has them mixed up with the MII dropped spindles that many different places make. I think Maybe I might have a few of the leafs removed to lower it a bit
