6.9-7.3 head interchangeable?
I ask because I've had a mostly complete '90 7.3L for over 2 years now and I'm gonna scrap all I cant use.
I already plan on keeping the rockers and injectors (to save them for to-be cores for moose injectors hopefully
I would like to keep the heads and tool with them and get them rebuilt later down the road and swap them into my 6.9 when I get a turbo for it.
Thanks
- IP Pump.

- Injector Lines.
- All thermal sensors and switches.

- Fuel line from Lift to Filter.
- Fuel line from Filter to IP.
- Filter Head.
- Rocker Assemblies.
- Push Rods. (Id'd to the rockers)
- Vacuum pump.

And the Short list..

Personally, I would use the Short List!

About the only thing you can't swap is the heads, but the valves and valve springs can be swapped.
You would have to bore the 6.9 110 thousandths, then you could even use the pistons.
There's no IP/hard lines, filter head, acc brackets. Actually, I have a few pics in my gallery from when I first bought the motor so maybe they can help show what I got....or dont.
The cam is grooved from the fuel pump lever.
I wouldnt put the block in my truck just because I dont know the history of the motor, mileage, additives, etc.
I'm just asking which parts I would benefit from off the 7.3 into my 6.9. And sell the rest, its taking up some space I would like to have.
The valve springs are probably tired, so no real help there unless they are even weaker on the 6.9.
7.3 turbo valves are an upgrade for the 6.9, even more since you are running a turbo.
Sounds like the cam is well worn and the motor has a fair amount of miles on it.
Lifters are probably about shot with that many miles on them also.
If it were me, I would keep the exhaust manifolds, they do crack and are hard to find.
I would keep and install the rockers.
Oil cooler may be worth keeping, it's not that big.
Oil and temp sensors, tach sensor if it has one.
Fan clutch if it is good.
The rest, well it does take up a lot of room.
