I bought my 1985 6.9 Diesel XL F-250 because it had a rebuilt engine and t-19 4spd transmission. The body was camo- and falling apart.
I just found a 1985 6.9 Diesel XLT 4x4 F-250 with engine issues. Problem is it has a C-6 in it. How hard would it be to pull swap the rebuilt engine/tranny into the XLT? Moreover, convert the XLT from an auto to a Manual?
Swap the parts. You should be able to look at it and see how "hard" it will be. Some folks don't mine laying in the footwell r&r'ing the pedals, or under the truck moving crossmembers and pulling the trans. You have all the parts except MAYBE the driveshafts if need be.
IMO it's a lot of work. Nothing really difficult, other than it will seem to never end. You going to pull the Auto trans column or let the auto shifter lay there like it has E.D.?
I was thinking that it wouldn't be too bad, except the drive shafts. The donor truck is a super cab 4x2 and the truck the engine and tranny are going in is a single cab 4x4.
