ok i have finally found the truck i have been looking for for the last 5-6 years...1999 f-250 4x4 crewcab longbed diesel 6spd. i even found it to match my interior and exterior colors and options...as well got it for around 4k under book...anyway iam very happy and am looking at some up grades and want to know what your opinions are
wanting:
5" straight piped exhaust
aem brute force or afe stage 2 cold air intake
leveling kit with 315/75/16
already have:
superchips flashpaq tuner
stock straight piped exhaust
triple a-pillar guages
i will mainly be hauling gravel/wood/such things on fairly frequent occasions, and wanted some opinions about my 2 cold air intake ideas as well should i go 5" exhaust (will possiably upgrade injectors later) or run 4"? i already have my leveling kit and wheel/tire combo picked out but should i upgrade to 4:10 gears (have 3:73 now). any and all info and opinions are very much appreciated!
Congrats on the truck, sounds like a good one! A few things:
Ditch the Superchips ASAP in favor of custom tunes- DP Tuner, Total Diesel Performance, and Power Hungry Performance are all much better options
Warn premium hubs are the preferred upgrade to the stock hubs
Come on down to the 99-03 7.3L forums for a bunch more reading and info. But beware... your credit card will be screaming for mercy
i dont know if i want to ditch the superchips just yet...i like it and have over 400 invested in it....but i will deffinatly look into the others you have mentioned...i know alot of people that run the dp tuner....ill checkout the waren hubs as well the other powerstroke section...and yes iam sure my checking account will hurt once iam done...but its the wife i have to watch out for.....ill get some pics up as soon as i can....thanks again
Too bad about the superchips. For the same money, you could have gotten a much better chip, but at least the superchips will read any trouble codes for you. A 5" exhaust will breathe better, but a 4" will work in most circumstances. We have lots of folks running the AFE stage II with no issues. Don't hear too much about the brute force intake. 315's may rub when turning with just a leveling kit, so that's something to consider. Is your's an early or late 99?
As mentioned, stop by the 99-03 diesel section a little further down the forum listing, or use the link Chase provided. There's lots of good info down there.
well the whole deal with the superchips is i have headr good about them and was told its much better to have a programer than a chip, so thats how that came about...will probly go with the 5" exhaust and going to try out the 6637mod and ccv mod, so far i have learned so much on here that i have a headache...its a good one though...iam running 285's now and the 315's iam looking at arent a whole lot bigger, and a little rubbing doesnt bother me iam thinking the wheels i buy will tackle that problem...and my truck is a early 99 build date of 12/98 if i remember correctly.....once again thanks for all the helpfull info!
