Will F100 rotors fit on F250 spindles??

Hi guys. I've located a complete front suspension from a 79 F250. Will F100 rotors fit on these spindles? Will the F250 calipers work for f100 too? How about the Power steering box, linkage, etc?
Thanks.

Single or dual piston calipers?

The P/S gearbox is the same 1974/79 F100/350 2WD, but what else may/may not be is the same can only be determined by those calipers.

1975/79 F250's were offered with 6200, 6900, 7500 and 8100 lb. GVW's.

Only the 6200 lb. GVW (2WD) has single piston calipers and some of the same suspension/steering parts as a 1975/79 F100/150 2WD's.

Well, I guess it's confirmed.....the F100 rotors will not bolt directly onto '79 F250 spindles. Rats!

Well, if any of you guys with Slick F250's in Southern California are looking to convert your trucks to disc brakes and power steering, here's a complete set up for you posted on craigslist/inland empire. Check it out. It even has the stabilizer bar.

Since ALL 352/360/390/410/428 blocks were cast as 352's..only when finished could the block be another size.

The last year for the 352 was 1967, so...this so called 390 engine could be a 352, 390, 410, or 428.

The C7ME casting number doesn't mean it's a 390, it doesn't mean it's a Mercury only engine...unless it's a 410. It really doesn't mean diddly-squat!

No smog doesn't mean jack either, because Ford sold (and still sells) plugs to cap off the smog pump holes in the heads: C6AZ6052A.

The first year for factory installed sway bars on any F100/350 was 1973.

Hi ND,
Yes, the CL ad was for the 390 but it was the brakes and steering I was interested in. I totally glossed over the F250 part before I contacted the guy.

At any rate, I checked with my buddy Don at Engler Bros. today. His parts books shows that the "light duty" '79 F250 uses the same inner & outer wheel bearings as the same vintage F100, which should mean that the F100 rotor should fit the "light duty" F250 spindle. Like you said, those would be the ones with the single piston caliper. The heavy duty F250 uses different bearings, thus different rotors.

I don't know if my potential donor truck is light duty or not but I will find out. If it is a "light duty" truck, I should be able to get the whole suspsension and put the F100 rotors on it to keep my 5x5.5 bolt pattern. If it's not, I'll keep looking.

Thanks to all you guys for helping me sort this out.

6200 lb. "light duty" F250's have single piston calipers.

The spindles are the same as 1975/79 F100/150's.

The rotors are not the same because all 1953/96 F250's have 8 lug 6.50" bolt circle wheels.

Which raises another interesting question.....when it came time to replace the rotors, those people who originally bought 75-79 "light duty" 6200lbGVW F250's had to buy an 8 lug rotor that was unique to their light duty trucks, right? That could have been a real PITA for those people if most suppliers were only stocking the ones made for the heavier GVW's.

Of course the point of this whole thread has been to determine if it's possible to put 5 lug F100 rotors on any of these F250's that came with 8 lug rotors. According to our research thus far, (please correct me if I don't have this right) it should be possible to put 75-79 F100 5 lug rotors onto the spindles from a 75-79 F250 "light duty" 6200lb GVW ONLY, because they use the same inner & outer wheel bearings as the F100 and therefore it should be the same spindle. All other F250's will not work for this exchange because there is a difference in the spindle, bearings or both.

I don't know how common these light duty F250's are but it's probably safe to say that if you're not ABSOLUTLEY sure if it's a light duty F250 6200GVW, then walk away and find a suitable 73-79 F100 donor truck for your F100 disc brake conversion.

The GVW is listed on the Warranty Plate on all Ford trucks.

However....that's not an absolute, because the Warranty Plate is riveted on the left door face.

If the door was changed due to damage, the info on the plate won't match the truck, because 99.9% of the peeps forget to swap over the original plate.

1963/80 F Series trucks: Swapped doors with correspondingly wrong Warranty Plate info is somewhat common here on FTE.

The spindles are the same: 1974/79 F250 2WD 6200 lbs. & 1975/79 F100/150 2WD.

D3TZ1102A .. Hub & Rotor Assy / Fits: 1973/79 F250 2WD 6200 lb. GVW only.
