At the limits of the weight ratings, an "E" tire will hold up to the task longer than a "D" rated tire. Of the exact same brand and size tire. The "E" will be cooler than the "D", ALL OTHER THINGS BEING EQUAL.
Comparing tires from different brands is apples and oranges, and you have to seriously take a look at temp ratings, along with all the other things.
If you do not tow heavy or haul anything in the bed near the weight limits, it's OK to use a "D" rated tire.
