Hey all... I have a question because I'm kind of stumped on this one. I am attempting to take off my Grill on my '66 F100 and I have gotten most of the bolts off. I have two bolts on the inner fender side that I tried to take off and now the backside is turning and I can not get the bolt off. I can't fit a cutter in between to cut the bolt but I thought maybe somebody has done this before and can offer some suggestions. I am kind of stuck right now and I don't want to damage my fender by prying the hole bigger. Any suggestions will help. Thanks a lot. I will post pictures if needed.

Post a picture please. I'm trying to understand just what bolts your having trouble with. Are the ones by the headlights giving you problem?
Here's some pics.. Sorry but I'm not sure how to keep them rotated when I downloaded them. If you open the link it should be rotated 90 degrees. Anyway the bolt you see on the first pic is the one I can not get off and its the same on the other side as well. It is the bolt behind the head light. Thanks
took a pair of vice grips and carefully reached in under the fender past the wheel and clamped on, put a block of wood in there to help it from bending the fender when I went bck up top to use a socket to undo and hoped it would just break the bolt
which it did and no damage to the fender
the trick is getting under there and getting the vice grips to stay on
From the fender side reach up there with a 1/2" wrench, you might be able to get a pair of vice grips up there. I't's best to have a helper, but you can do it by yourself. These are the bolts that hold the upper valance (at least that's what I'm making out from the picture) Not necessary to remove just for grill. However you are now commited, so good time to replace bolts and clean things up. I thought you were having trouble with the two (one on each side) next to headlight.
Ok I finally got them after a couple days of doing it by myself.. For some reason, the backside was difficult to grab with vise-grips that I finally broke the washer and was able to get a good handle on it. Being that I'm replacing the bolts, I am really having a difficult time removing all of them. I am spraying some lubricant on them and it is helping tremendously. Thank you all for the help and comments.
I am now to the point of removing the grill and am at another stopping point. I have all of the bolts off except 4 that are holding the bottom of the grill (there may be more but I only see 4 right now). I can see the nuts down inside between the grill and the radiator and I can see the bolt right near the I-beam but, I can't get to the bolts. How do I remove these? Again, thanks for all your help and I couldn't do it without you.
P.S. I posted pics in my album so check them out if you get a chance. They are nothing out of the ordinary but something to look at I guess.
If your not taking the lower rock gaurd off (which is easier to remove grill) It is not necessary. Anyway the lower bolts that you can't see you can feel. (Second one in from either side) You'll need to wedge a fat chisel or a curved pry bar between the rock gaurd and core support gives you just enough room to access the bolt head. This is hard to explain but if you can understand it, you'll get them off. If not remove bumper remove all the bolts for the rock gaurd (you will need PB Blaster for these bolts) then pull grill and rock gaurd off as on piece. Are you confused yet? It's easier for me to do it then explain it.
LOL.. I think I understand the chisel or prybar.. I will try that in the morning and see what I can do.. As for the grill, I have seen posts that Dennis Carpenter sold the chrome grill but they do not have any and will not for a while. Is this still true or does anybody know where I can get one? Thanks a lot.
Have found D.C. can list an item as ' in stock pending' indefinately. As far as grille is concerned, going to email a possible source.
Removing the bolts that attach grill to fender is 99% of the project and if already have not done so, suggest removing grille, upper and lower valance, rock guard as an entire unit, it makes disassembling much easier.
Ok I was going to remove it all any way so I will try to remove the upper and lower valances. I'm not sure exactly what bolts to remove but I guess I will learn as I go. Thanks again.
Those bolts went into U-clips that had the nut staked on and when I did it every staked nut came loose. Goes with the territory. Those type can't be found now which is just as well. AMK listed in their book but has since been discontinued so I got the type used on my Cougar and Mustang and then inserted every bolt with a little anti-seize on each.
Yeah that's what I'm finding out on just about every bolt I attempt to take off. I guess that's just the way it goes and I'll make sure to put some anti-sieze on the new ones.
