Banks intake and/or exhaust

I've been thinking bout putting the banks ram air intake and monster exhaust on my 08 6.4L. Any body running either of these on their truck? If so, how do you like them? Any improvment in power or mpgs?

Do a search. this has been discussed many times. Some people have had issues with the air intake on early builds from what I have read but others will pipe in. I have had good luck with Banks in the past and would do it again but I am waiting for the warranty to be done on my truck first.

I understand that they are still throwing codes. Was going to do it myself but I think that there are still too many issues.

I don't think anyone is gaining any mpgs either.

Well, I will chime in here. I have the intake and monster duals for about 1500 miles now on my 09. So far(keep fingers crossed), there are no codes. Truck is still to new to get a good mpg figure and due to the fact I had the items installed within one week of ownership, I am not sure if there have been improvements or not. On a recent 1200 mile round trip to Minnesota, I got 16-mpg going up and about 15-mpg coming home. If it were not for the headwind and some 4x4 use, I am sure the numbers would have been better. My 04 on the same trip in the winter would only get about 17-18 depending on wind, etc. I can't wait till the end of March when I hook up my 11,000-lb travel trailer and drag it down to Missouri for a weekend....

I have both done to my truck it looks cool and lets the truck breath easier but hasn't helped the milage. Before I got the most recent reflash I threw two mass air flow codes during regens but knock on wood hasn't happened since. The truck just works better with these mods it dosn't have all that backpressure that robbed horse power and performance.

Here is what I can say. I have a Job1 truck and tried AFE's intake and it threw nothing but CEL's after just 50 miles. They even sent me a completely new kit thinking their first kit may have been defective. Nope, their kit just didn't work for me with out throwing a CEL. I decided to give BANKS a shot and go with their intake and big gun exhaust. Well, I am 6k miles after the instal and not one CEL. I'm very pleased with the quality and customer service of BANKS and their products. I will say though I havent really seen a fuel mileage increase, maaaaaybe a .5 per gallon max.

IMO, the aftermarket intakes are a waste on these trucks. Tried two (S&B, AFE) and neither one gave any increase but noise. The stock air box flows plenty of air, even for my Spartan chipped truck (with 275 tune), without a problem. Get a drop-in filter for the stock air box if you're wanting more. It won't throw codes, will flow as much as you can throw at it, and cost is next to nothing.

And the exhaust won't add anything to these trucks except looks until you get rid of the DPF.... that's where the sound (and HP) restriction is.

Thanks everybody. haha not what i was wanting to hear but helpful none the less. I might try a drop in filter, so i can just take it out if i need warranty work. The only thing that concerns me is the hose coming out of the stock intake suckin hot air off the exhaust down pipe? what is that about? and as far as exhaust goes see how much money i feel like spending, I just do not like the look of the factory exhaust.

cm351f, I think the drop in is a good choice but go with the banks dual exhaust it will drop your exhaust temps alot. Its a night and day difference.

i have the same question, what is the deal with the small hose that comes out of the stock intake? i can see why it might be necessary for subzero starts but i installed the new banks ram air intake on my 08 and i uses that same stoke hose. is it necessary? any thoughts?
