Anyone Know Rotor Thickness Specs for 06 Escape?

We have an 06 Escape Limited and this thing has gone through brakes like water. The dealer says the brake pads are done and we need new rotors. Does anyone know the mininum rotor thickness specs of the Escape ?, I know it is stamped into the back of the rotor but that means I have to remove them to read it. I just want to compare our rotor thickness to what the dealer is saying. I think they are B.S.ing us.

The Escape got new brakes and rotor before we bought it , just prior to 17,000 kilometre mark in the fall of 2006. In the summer of 2007 at 29,000 kilometres they told us it needed new pads and they turned the rotors. Now they are saying it needs new pads and rotors at 45,000 kilometres . Something just doesn't add up here.

Thanks for any replies on this.

Inside of rotor should be stamped "min 22 mm". These rotors are good for roughly "one turn" after that they will be to thin to turn again, this will of course depend on how many miles are on them.

Generally with OEM rotors, if there is any scoring at all, they will be too thin.

Cost savings for the manufacturer, supply rotors with no spare metal on them.

DoctorCad... you're right there! I just did the front brakes on my 2005 Escape this weekend, I have almost 50,000 miles on the vehicle and the original brakes. I took the rotors to be turned and they were concerned because after turning the first rotor it was 2/1000's under spec and the second rotor was 3/1000's under spec... I told them I wasn't because we're just splitting hairs. It's not like the old days when rotors had some "meat" to them. Next weekend I'm doing the back brakes... drums... a bit of a pain but a lot cheaper than taking it in to a shop.
