I was just wondering what the real difference is in the two trucks or if Ford just got rid of the Edge line.

 

Even the 2wd edge rangers had torsion bar suspension, where as the 2wd sport has coils.

 

Funny, my son's '07 has the front torsion bar on the Sport and I don't even see Edges anymore.

 

I always thought the Edge/Sport packages where a cool idea. My favorite was the FX4 Level 2, which they stopped making

 

My old Ranger was a 4x2 Sport.Nothing really fancy.It was a base truck.One thing I liked was that the dome light was the same as the one in my 1980 F100.

 

Maybe the new sports have the t-bar suspension, they use to be coil. Maybe the new sport is the old edge.

 

The Ranger Sport of 1998-2000 became the Edge. That in 2006 became the Sport again, still has torsion bar front that Edge had from start.

 

i just saw this thread. i have wondered in the past, is the edge only a 2 wd ranger with the torsion bar front suspension from the 4wd ranger. it was my impression that the edge was only a 2wd truck,but it had the ride height and look of the 4wd truck. this was achieved by using the 4wd torsion bar front suspension. is this true?

 

There are some 4x4 Edge's. I almost bought one.

 

In 2000 Ford offered a Trail Head option for the two wheel drive XL regular cab. It offered the 16 " offroad tires, torsen bar suspension and the payload package 2 with a few other misc. items.

 

The edge seems to have a lift and 3.73 limited slip differencial as standard.
