I have a 92 f250 with the 7.3. Its got a pretty healthy fuel leak so i dropped the tank and the fuel lines for the front and rear are looking pretty bad. it seems to be leaking alot from the rear lines (but that tank doesn't work?) anyway, i need the little plastic clips that go into the connector for the fuel lines where can i find them? Would a leaking fuel line allow fuel into the system and make for hard starting?
I only use the front tank. The rear tank doesnt work and there is some fuel in it and its leaking from the rear tank lines. Will this still affect the starting?
I would not use standard rubber fuel line it is not to compatible with diesel.
The hard plastic air brake line may be a cheap alternative at about .50 cents a foot and you can get all kinds of compression fittings for it.
This line is used on many reefer units for fuel line.
i changed the lines from the front tank to the selector valve. The rear lines leak like a siv anytime its parked. i took all the fuel i could out of the rear tank so hopefully it will stop. my shraeder valve is shot i can pull the needle out, its not even attached. i put the needle back in and put a metal valve stem cover on it. (where can i get a new one)
The selector valve was working before i parked it to do the work. I filled the fuel filter with additive and fuel and it would start for a second and then shut off. And also from what i saw you cant mix up where the hoses go because one is bigger than the other one on the tank the same goes for the selector valve right?
i have fuel at the sch. valve and still no start. it will kinda stay started if i hold my foot on the pedal but barely and then if i let off it shuts off. i need help this stupid thing is my dd and money maker. thanks for any help
It sounds like you are sucking air somewhere. You can do a fuel pressure and volume test at the schrader valve, it needs 4 to 6 lbs pressure and 1/3 pint in 10 seconds of cranking.
I have several times not been able to find an air leak on the suction side until I put a little air pressure on the tank and then it would leak diesel. If you do this be careful as it doesn't take a lot of pressure to damage a tank.
