Dunno about '80-'85, but starting the end of the 1985 model year Ford has been making 4x4 duallies. Now, they didn't make a 3/4-ton dually, not since the '70s at least, so this is definitely a conversion.
You are correct ,they just never put a pickup bed on them until the Superduty 99

Everything on your truck may be original, but not factory. Centurion moddified quite a few things for Ford from the F250 Bronco thingy (prehistoric Excursion), 6 door F350's, 4 door F150's, and a few others. These trucks went straight from the line (sometimes incomplete) straight to the Centurion shop then the trucks went to the dealers.
Yes they did,just not pickups.

I almost bought a crew cab powerstroke dually before I bought the truck I have now.

Wow... amazing that there's not a single one on ebay. If you search for dually 4x4's F-350, you only get 99 and newer.

Go figure. I wouldnt have thought anything of it. But I was so close to buying a 1996 Crew Cab Dually pickup before I got my F-250. So I knew they were around.

Ford has been making dually pickups (with a regular 8' box) since at least the 80s. Pretty sure you could get them in the 70s also, but not not positive.

Not true, plenty of 4x4 duallies pickups of the pre-'99 models running around. However, every single one of them that I've seen has been a crew-cab or extended cab, never a regular cab. Chevy had RCLB 4x4 duallies back then, pretty sure so did Dodge, can't imagine Ford falling behind...

The first ford dually pickup was 1980.the first ford 4x4 Dually pickup from the factory not converted was the 99 Superduty.Do some research that is a fact.

Yeah, I still think they made dually pickup's before 1999. I see them all the time, I doubt everyone got a conversion. And I doubt Ford would decide to not make a ford dually pickup, while chevy and dodge had one for sale.
