What was the point of a sleeper? Did anyone actually sleep in it?

no but they sure were good for throwing the junk into but lord help you in a rollover at 60 mph or so with every thing flying around and unless you are 90 lbs or so they were a pretty small fit i also like the look of the ford canopys but when i had mine in the early 80s in realality it sat in the yard more than it was on my truck it seemed to always be in the way loading or unloading any thing

Factory Ford 70's Canopys

I have three of the Factory Ford marketed canopys that I am trying to put together one complete on for my 1975 Ford 4 X 4. I am in need of a set of screens to complete my restoration. Even one would help. The screen material doesn't need to be intact, just a serviceable frame. I do have various parts and one restorable shell if anyone is interested.

Planenutt; Have you been able to find a supplier for various parts to the shells you have worked on? I have two of these shells but have not found a place to get parts. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Parts Supplier for Ford Factory Canopy

I did find the oem lifting arms from BroncoGraveyard.com but no supplier for any other parts. That is why I have three shells. I have enough parts for 98% complete for one shell. I have enough for 90% of another complete shell and the thrid is only about 50%. The only thing that I need is a screen for the side windows. Some parts are impossible to find or duplicate. I've even contacted Leer (the origional manufacturers) and they laughed histericaly.

any other color on it was done by someone else

In recent weeks, I've seen three of these shells. All were tu-toned with the secondary color over the front of the roof and down the sides.

Each tu-toned shell matched the primary color of the truck. This tu-toning was prolly done by the dealers.

Since all the parts are obsolete, the only sources for NOS parts will be obsolete parts vendors, a few Ford Dealers, Hemmings Motor News and ebay.

I found a NOS w/strip for a member a coupla years ago at an obsolete parts vendor.
