Anyone familiar with the new navigation/sync system in the 09 Navs? I think it is made by Sony? Demo I saw was pretty impressive for a Ford product, and am wondering if it will be able to refit to my '08?

Ford makes a Sync upgrade kit that works in Navigators built after some time in early 2008. There is a press release somewhere online with the details. I was going to get it for mine, but it costs $550 and has to be installed by the dealer.

 

I appreciate your answer. But the '08 w/sync doesn't doesn't come close (I think) to the other features of the new Sony? Nav in the '09. I just got the '08 and came very close to getting the '09--but it was almost $11000 more, and would have had to wait 6-9 weeks. And the backup cam is in the nav, not in the mirror--much easier to see.
I am hoping someone with the background in audio/auto electronics will come up with a patch to get the '09 head unit operating in the '08.
