Will not start after it gets operating temp

90 F-250 351w 4x4 (149,000 miles) will not start after it gets at operating temp..It turns over really slow if turns over any...Bought new stater and coil...battery is fine.. wrapped starter to keep it from getting hot and put a shield in between starter and exhauts...Going to store to get rotor and cap now..also think I'm going to get capacitor thats off from the coil...looks like it never been changed..

dunno what else it can be..

Check the ignition timing with a timing light with the spout connector unhooked. If you can't find the specs try 10 degrees before top dead center.

Check both battery wires for signs of burning or corrosion under the insulation at the ends and make sure the grounds are tight.
I would also think about checking the fuel pressure. Do you smell any gas in the engine oil?

This turns out to be the ECT sensor a lot of the times. It will not cause it to turn over slow but will stop one from starting when warm.

If the ETC sensor says always cold poring cold water on them will not help.

If the sensor always say it is cold the engine will start OK cold but not when it is hot.

I had the same problem several years ago when my battery was getting weak. You can test this by using jumper cables when you experience the slow turn condition. If the starter spins faster and your battery is several years old, it may be time for a new one.

do a load test on the battery. clean battery terminals, and check your cables for corrosion inside the jacket .my bet is on the battery.
