laugh if you want but today is one of the dumbest day of my life. i put 10 gallons of regular unleaded at the gas pump today. thank god i caught my mistake and DID NOT start up my tuck. it had a half tank of diesel in it before i filled up. my truck is a 2000 PSD super cab short bed. is there anything i can do besides dropping my tank in their parkinglot? i live 400 miles away

I have not tryed this but my sugestion would be to pump the tank out through the filler neck. and fill with diesel mabie add diesel kleen and 2 cycle oil to the mix.

 

Disconnect fuel line after fuel pump, add a piece of hose to your pump outlet, run a jumper wire to the positive battery post, and pump the fuel out of the tank and into some 5 gallon cans. after you think you have romved all the mixed fuel put 10 gallons of diesel in the tank and pump that through also. Yes, it will take awhile, but it beats dropping the tank in a parking lot.

Just pump it down as far as you can, and fill with diesel. Extra additive isn't a bad idea. These will run with a lot of gas in 'em without much harm.

 

Had a buddy do the same thing ! If you're not up and running already ! Put in a couple of quarts of ATF ! The gas will adhere to the ATF and it will help slip it through the system !!!

 

ok i got it! thanks for all your help everyone.. i went to wallmart and but a whole bunch of gas cans and a pretty cool little dand pump with hoses included for 8 bucks. i was able to get 22 gallons out the first time. then i put 5 gallons of diesel in and pumped it back out. then filled it up! i put 8 ounces of 2 stroke oil i had in my truck box and its running like a champ. my egt's are normal, it dosnt make any new noise ect.. so far so good. ill feel alot better when i get some diesel clean and a few more tanks of DIESEL through it. this was definately the first and last time i will make this mistake.

 

I think you have nothing to worry about except what to do with that mixed fuel.

 

Save it for winter and mix a gallon or two to a tank of diesel. Would want to add some 2 stroke oil for lubrication. But you probably won't want to save it that long. Just a thought.

 

You could pit on a drain line from your filter bowl and open the bowl drain, turn on the switch and it will pump it out. The gas goes to the bottom for some reason and will drain out first.

I did this a few years back cause stupid bp has a green gas pump and a black diesel. it still runs on gas but not recommended. It won't explode or anything, maybe even clean your injectors!!
