The off the Wall Ford truckster project

Having more than a couple of 42-47 trucks I got to thinking I need a roadster so I've started on a roadster project using a '47 cab and doing something that will not be confused with a rat rod, At this time I'm thinking either a 4 or 6 cylinder for power. I'll try and load a few conceptual images here. Any suggestions? ,or or , this could be a cheap build for me as I have most of the parts in the fields and sheds now.

Looks cool, I like it. I vote for v6 power, ever drive a Taurus SHO? 3.0 V6 DOHC Yamaha engine. I understand that it will hook up to a 3.0 Ranger/Aerostar rear wheel trans.

Interesting idea, I've been give some thought to a Mercruiser 471 engine out of a a boat they are 1/2 of a Ford 460, aluminum block, accept any head a 460 will including the aluminum pro-stock head, have a chevy bellhousing pattern and are cheap. Here's one that pushes a 1500 lb. car to 8.50 second run.s in a 1/4 mile..

I'm always thinking as cheap as possible with the best results. Here's one that pushes a 1500 lb. car to 8.50 second run.s in a 1/4 mile..

That is interesting, I have not seen one of them, not much of a boat guy, but sounds fun.

How about a nice old 2.8 Ford V6, lots of em laying around from Rangers, Mustangs, Capris, easy to work on, cheap parts, cams are available, Offenhauser has a 4bbl manifold and a 390cfm Holley 4v works great, Headers are avail from Edlebrock. Cheap and uncomplicated, all old school and no computers or EFI to mess with.
