Opinion on Skyjacker 4" lift
Im getting ready to purchase the skyjacker 4" lift for my 01 250. I will be installing it myself with a extra couple of hands. It seems really straight forward, but will i have to deal with the pitarm hassle? ive read alot about how much of a B**** that is. It is looking like it will just be a lot of unbolt and bolt back on stuff. How long has it taken you guys who have installed it yourselves? any thing i need to lookout for?
And i read alot about all the other companies who make lifts like this but i just dont have that kind of money. What do you all think of skyjacker? when i ask people who they think of when they hear truck lift they think of skyjacker. Is it worth the money? or should i stop being stubborn and put a little extra out and get what i pay for?
Thanks Jaret

skyjacker is good stuff...
should be a complete kit with everything u'll need...
at 4"s it should have a drop pitman arm...
have u looked at Procomp kits to ???
hope u have lots of hand tools, and expect to need torchs to cut off old parts... the lieklyhood of ur Ubolts undoing is basicly nill, given the year of your truck...
impact gun and a pitman arm puller will both basicly be needed, otherwise your arms will really suffer.. haahah...
post up pics and good luk..
should be able to do it in 1 day of wrenching with ur budies and maybe 2 cases of beer..
more beer = more labour/time to complete teh job...haahahah

I have a 6" Skyjacker lift, and I'm not too happy with it. The ride is extremely rough, almost bouncing down the highway at times. The shocks that came with the lift were complete crap. I switched to Bilsteins, and that helped a little, but it's still too rough for my tastes. Personally, I think Rize or Icon would be a better choice.

when it comes to the older body style pre-superduty i hear nothing but good and love my skyjacker with the superdutys Icon seems to be the top but i have seen people more than happy with their skyjackers, pro-comps, rough countrys personally i think the skyjacker kits are a pretty high quality lift that most wont regret. when i did it i had a breaker bar and i think i ended up not having my impact wrench and it went just fine....except the d%*& pitman arm... it finally came off with ALOT of heat a good bit of hammer and before that alot of hammer and even tried a pry bar and a normal puller (didnt have a pitman arm puller) it barely moved all. That thing was a pain im sure the right puller would have helped but in the end all the heat trashed my steering box seal on the shaft to the pitman arm because i let the flame get too high.
back to the topic sorry about the rant but yeah i think youll be happy with a skyjacker kit if thats what you go with

Autozone will have a pitman arm puller you can loan. The best way is with an impact gun, I was working on a 98 Crown Vic last week where the pitman arm just would not budge. Tried 3 different guns, a 5 foot breaker bar while holding the arm in place with another. At last resort heat was used but make sure you aim it down, and away from the steering box as Capn said.

yea there is a difference 4" vs 6" its the reason i went with 4"
-anyone correct me if i'm wrong with this- but with the 6 inch drive shafts need to be changed or extended along with brake lines and the sway bar in the rear require extensions (with 4" you only lift the rear 2 inchs vs 4 with the 6" and the sway bar has enough flex to be ok with 2 inchs of lift) front will need extensions in either case unless your just gonna take it off
if you feel like you might want 6 go for it you don't want to go 4 inchs then regret it and wish you had gone 6
