Anyone ever tried that banjo minnow for bass? I've been thinking about trying it out. I'm tired of catching the little 1-2lb bass. Or what other baits out there catch the big ones. I mainly fish farm/private ponds. But there on the bigger side of your normal private pond.
I am a trout fisherman now, but a couple years in the So. Midwest taught me if you want to catch BIG bass, use a Carolina rigged plastic worm and work it in the structure where they live.
Private ponds/lakes are ideal for jug fishing, if you're after bigger fish (And you don't mind also catching catfish). Always worked for me. Do you know what jug fishing is?
I will share my secret.Go to the pet store and buy the biggest GOLDFISH they have.........
Hey, it works, actually.
Biggest bass I ever caught was in a farm pond about 25' x 45'. 6-inch shiner, no weight & a sliding bobber. Over 7 pounds. The bigger the bait the bigger the bass.
You could try reall big, noisy top-water baits if live bait ain't sportin' e-nuff for you.
What works for me and my best friend is a 7 or 10" purple worm or a Junebug Mega tube thrown around structure, out of all the differant baits and lures we try these seem to work best we rig them up weedless, now this is for our area and it sounds boring but thats what works for us.
