I'm Looking for a 7.50 X 20 Tire!

Does anyone know where I can find good 7.50 X 20 tires? 10 ply bias is what I need. It is for my old 1956 F500 (5 tone).

Do a search for "Dick Cepek" tires. They used to have a lot of specialized tires that larger companies don't bother with.

Universal has them in 14 ply. Here's the link - Universal Vintage Tire . So does Lucas Tire. Their link - http://www.lucasclassictires.com/Bia...3302009www.htm . Coker lists it too but a lot more expensive.

Interesting to me that you have tube type multi-part 20s on a 56. I thought 56 was the first year for tubeless 22.5s. If your rims are the kind known as Firestone RH-5°, also called "widow makers", you may have trouble finding a shop to mount new rubber on them. Here's pics of them.

I just bought a set of 6 10-ply 7.50-20 tires/tubes/flaps, installed with house call, from SM Tire here in California. Tires are Akuret Cargo Hiways. I believe the tires were around $100 each (whole package was ~$1200).

"widow maker"... great...

Here's a couple of pictures. They are definitely 20's. Lug nuts are 1 1/2 (socket size) and 5 lug. If there is a way to convert these to something else (like 22.5's maybe) I'd consider that too.

Not all two-piece rims are widow makers - just an FYI. Look at the rim. If you have a 1" ring on the outer edge (look at the front tires first), then you have normal two-piece rims that will truck shops will service. If the edge of the ring is solid, then you have widow makers.

5-on-8 is a pretty common lug pattern. You can find 'safe' two-piece rims at places like Acme Truck Parts (Acme Truck Parts and Equipment: Heavy Duty Trucks and Truck Parts.) and you can possibly find some 22.5" with that bolt pattern through them as well.

I have 2 spare 20'' rims with tires from my 56. The original owner swapped the 22.5s-which I have also. I kept the 20s because they were in good condition.
I am in Ohio....I called this past fall and Orwell tire locally had 20''on the rack and for 99.00 each mounted.
I love the pics....look at my gallery and I have had 5-6 big 53s-56s.......and a international diesel in a 56f350.......project....in build mode......but runs......good luck/Bill

If I'm seeing right, those look like "lock rings" and, like the man said, they are serviceable at any big truck tire shop. You'll want to check them all though to be sure. Look for the raised band on the inside (concave) side to know for sure.
