Pros:

Able to use it as "Jake Break"
In theory, due to the VV able for one turbo to act like two sequential
Don't have to worry about programming the VGT sensor to shut down

Cons:

More parts to break down(this includes a lot of mini items under this general heading)

Personally I would go with a non-vgt turbo(as I have), especially if your a tow'er or just want to have a fast ride, if it's just DD street use, you might be able to argue a/m VGT turbo then.

thanks tex I was hoping you would chime in here. Yes I want my truck to be fast. I also pull a heavy fifth wheel now and again. What I want is to enventually get 500-550 hp out of her. I'm trying to use your siggi as a guide line. I plane to do the turbo, injectors, rr, fass, and arps with egr delete some time this summer

I would do the non-vgt turbo with what your wanting to do. What I like about the turbo that I have for towing purposes is that it's able to "hold" egt's fairly constant. In other words, if your holding 5-10 psi of boost and going up a good grade of hill, it will hold onto egts at around 1100 even though you may actually going a little bit quicker going up that hill. As long as your pushing atleast 5-10 psi of boost that will help keep egts within check. Atleast that is what I have noticed when I'm hauling horses up some good size grades.
