Torque Converter opinions

Hi All,
Well I am in a financial bind at the moment and it looks like my TC is on its way out. The transmission shifts fine and has no other problems except for the horrible noise. I have check all other sources for the noise and my conclusion is that its either the flex plate or the TC, or maybe both. So pending on what I see when I drop the tranny tomorrow. What TC would you go with? I dont have a ton of money to spend and the stock one lasted me 187k miles so I was going to go with that. I just wanted some input since the stock one gets such a bad rap. Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks!!

With no power adders, a stock converter should do you for another 100K+ miles. You might consider a 6.0 converter with adapter from John Woods. Everyone raves on the combination and I don't think it is that much more.

I'm in the same boat, or at least I will be soon..

I'm curious if anyone has any experience with those sold on ebay such as this one:

eBay Motors: E4OD E40D 4R100 Multi-Clutch Billet Torque Converter (item 250400284161 end time Apr-12-09 03:58:48 PDT)

I emailed him, and he claims they are good for 750ft-lbs..

any opinions?

I'm always leery of buying parts from XYZ company on ebay. I looked at the feedback and nothing really there about the product itself, just the shipping. I will probly go with the stock converter since it would be the most straight forward to install and I need to get back on the road. I have never done this before so if i had more experience i would try to make the 6l tc fit.
